Dragonfly in Amber
I finished the second book in Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series this week and, once again, was swept away on the tide of political intrigue, Scottish history, and a powerful love that triumphs through evil.
Much of Jamie and Claire's time in this installment was spent in France where "Bonnie Prince Charlie" is trying to raise support for his plan to take back Scotland from the English. Clarie and Jamie are determined to do all they can to stop him because Claire knows from history how the rising will end. In the end, their scheming seems to be fruitless, and Claire returns back home through the standing stones to spare her life and the life of their child as Jamie returns to be surely killed in battle.
This one has a very dramatic ending, and I'm definitely getting book 3, but I am going to take a short break to read and review quite a few others on my to be read list.
Disclaimer: As I said when I reviewed The Outlander, this book has some adult content. Reader read with discretion.
