Need You Now by Beth Wiseman

I've known Beth Wiseman as an author from some of her Amish novels.  This book is in a different genre, more a Christian fiction/drama.  I was interested to read it and notice the difference.

Darlene and her family have moved to the country to have a more peaceful life and a better environment for their children.  Darlene takes a job because she feels as if her children no longer need her as they get older.  Despite their move to get away from some of their problems in the city, Darlene and her husband find their marriage and their family challenged by the events around them.

This was a good story, interesting and compelling with several different story lines to follow.  Besides being an entertaining read, there were lots of things to think about and life lessons to consider.  Darlene's situation resonated with me as a stay at home mom and wife of many years.

Unfortunately, there were many exaggerated and unrealistic situations. The conversations sometimes seemed stilted.  The drama seemed forced at times. And the people just didn't seem "real."

It wasn't a story I could just be absorbed in, but it was an entertaining read and worthwhile for the thought provoking marriage and family situations.  I give it a 3.5 stars and a G rating.

I received a free copy of this book from BookSneeze for review purposes.  All opinions expressed are entirely my own.
