Battle for Cannibal Island and Escape to the Hiding Place: Imagination Station Books for Kids From Adventures in Odyssey

Leah Courtney

We've long enjoyed listening to The Adventures in Odyssey, so I was happy to see these Imagination Station books for my early chapter readers.

In Battle for Cannibal Island, the children have an adventure in Fiji in the 1850s.  They learn the lesson of loving your enemies and being kind even when others have been mean to you.

In Escape to the Hiding Place, the children are taken to Holland during World War 2 and meet Corrie Ten Boom and her family.  They learn that ordinary people can do extraordinary things when they allow themselves to be used by God.

I really like the Imagination Station books.  They're filled with some great history, and they're permeated with lessons about trusting God in our daily lives.  The books are easy to read and would be good for beginning chapter readers.  A few of the suspenseful situations may be frightening to young children.  Both books also have a word puzzle in the back to extend the fun.

I give these books a 5 star rating for kids and a G for content.

I received a free copy of each of these books from the publisher for review purposes.  All opinions expressed are entirely my own.
