Faithful to Laura by Kathleen Fuller
Faithful to Laura is an Amish fiction novel by a new to me author. It is apparently part of a series- the Middlefield Family series.
From the synopsis, I thought the main part of the story would focus on Laura, an Amish young woman betrayed by a man and seeking justice for herself and her family. But, the book actually had quite a few equally prominent story lines. Emma and Adam have known each for a long time, and they finally realize that they are meant to be together. Adam's parents are struggling in their marriage, and no one seems to know why. Sawyer, the love match for Laura, is meeting his biological grandmother for the first time.
I just thought the whole book was confusing. I'm sure some of it was because I was jumping in in the middle of several stories, but I just thought there was too much going on. I'm okay with a main story and a subplot. But this felt more like three full stories (or more) going on at once.
Perhaps beginning at the beginning of the series would have made this read more enjoyable. I did like the characters. The romance themes were sweet. I just couldn't like this one as much as I hoped.
I give this one 3 stars and a G for content.
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.
