Unstoppable by Nick Vujicic
I wanted to love this book. It is written by Nick Vujicic who has an amazing story. Born with no arms or legs, he has overcome his difficulties and disabilities and become an inspirational and evangelical speaker all over the world.
There are many videos of Vujicic on Youtube, and you can hear him speak and see his amazing story.
Nick is an engaging writer and an engaging speaker from what I've heard of him. His story is incredible, and he certainly does seek to use the position he is in to reach out to those around him. There is no question that God has used him mightily. And I have no doubts that Nick is sincere in his faith and in his desire to serve God through his disability.
I did find some of the book too good, however. There were parts that just seemed too positive, too much of a "if you just believe it will turn out okay."
I almost hesitated to even write that criticism. I believe that Nick's story and that this book (and his other publications) could have the power to encourage and inspire anyone going through hard times. I have no doubt that people read this, and it really resonates with them. It just wasn't my type of book.
Nick's story spoke to me. When I watched his videos I was touched. That's why I choose this book for review. But the writing just wasn't my style. The book was well-written. It just wasn't for me.
And so I give this one 4 stars (a good, well-written, potentially inspiring story that just wasn't my style. I also give it a G rating for content.
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.
