I was able to do a little preview for Etched Upon My Heart a few weeks ago, and I was excited to receive the book to review.
Etched Upon my Heart is a touching and inspiring read written by Jill Kelly, the wife of Jim Kelly, a former Buffalo Bills football player. Their son, Hunter was diagnosed with a rare disease and went to Heaven at the age of 8. In Etched Upon My Heart, Jill writes about moments in her life that she would share as a mom to her daughters.
The book is written in an informal, personal manner. She covers the topics of love, significance, forgiveness, suffering, giving, prayer, faithfulness, and death. Through each of these, she relates moments in her own life where she can see God at work drawing her to Him and deepening her understanding of Him.
Readers can get a personal glimpse into Jill's life. The moments she shares are personal and reflective. As she relates these moments in her own journey to God, readers can be drawn to know God in a deeper and more personal way.
I was touched and encouraged as I read. The book was emotional in some parts. I don't usually like this. It's just not my personality. But, I did enjoy the book and I would like to read Jill's other books.
You can find out more about this book and Jill's other books, as well as the foundation- Hunter's Hope that she and her husband have founded to help other parents who children are diagnosed with Krabbe Leukodystrophy and other inherited neurodegenerative disorders on Jill's website.
