God Is On the Cross: Reflections on Lent and Easter by Dietrich Bonhoeffer

I've long loved to read and to hear the writings and speakings of Dietrich Bonhoeffer. He is a voice who refused to be silenced despite imprisonment and finally death.  Living, preaching, and writing during World War 2, he spoke out against Nazism and the horrors of it.

In God is On the Cross, some of Bonhoeffer's writings, words from his sermons, and excerpts from letters are related in the form of a devotional that lead the reader through the season of Lent and up to Easter. There are daily readings including Bonhoeffer's words and Scripture arranged into themes for each week of Lent.

I really enjoyed the small "bite-sized" excerpts given for each day's readings. I liked the way that the book was organized into themes for each week of Lent.  I was encouraged and convicted as always by the writings of Bonhoeffer.

Although this is arranged as a devotional specific to Lent, I think it could be of use any time of the year as a short, concise devotional.

I give this one a 5 star rating and a  for content.
