The Prayer Box by Lisa Wingate

I've had The Prayer Box on my shelf to be read for a while. I've had so many good books to read and review lately, and I almost forgot about this one. But I'm very glad I picked it up.

Tandi Jo is a single mom who is struggling in every way. She's hiding from an abusive relationship. She has no job and not much money, and may soon not have a place to stay. She's living in a rental cottage on Cape Hatteras when she finds Iola Anne-the owner of the cottage and the large house next door- dead. Tandi is given temporary work to clean out Iola Anne's house. When she stumbles upon some letters hidden in boxes in the closet, Tandi begins reading, and Iola Anne's letters touch Tandi's heart. Thanks to the letters and the friendships she's developing on Cape Hatteras, Tandi learns that God does love her and has a plan for her life.

I love Lisa Wingate's writing. She is very descriptive. I can picture Cape Hatteras as I read, and I want to be there. I can see into Tandi Jo's soul, and I want to encourage her. I can feel the passion in Iola Anne's writing, and I want to know her.

I love it when I can read a book and truly fall in love with the book's characters. I did this with The Prayer Box.  Tandi is a character easy to relate to. And the message of God's grace and His plan for us is one that we need to be reminded of again and again.

I give this one 5 stars and a PG for content.
