This is one of those reads that I almost missed posting! Even I can't keep my books straight once in a while. But Mistaken is one you won't want want to miss.
Set in the early 1900s during prohibition, the story revolves around Laurie Burke. Her life has been negatively impacted by alcohol, so when she finds out her brother is involved in rumrunning, she's pretty upset. She determines to find an honorable man to love. But when she meets one man she thinks is involved in the rumrunning and one she believes is a federal agent, she doesn't know what to think or feel.
I really liked this one. Laurie was an interesting and dynamic character. She evokes the reader's empathy early on, and makes us want her to find her honorable man to love. The main male characters have secrets of their own and so are intriguing also. As the story unfolds, I found myself sometimes wanting to give Laurie my third person knowledge, to tell her what is happening!
The story was interesting. The characters were compelling. This was Christian fiction that could be moving without being preachy. I can recommend it as a good read!
I give this one 5 stars and a PG rating for content.
